Centigrade

  (for 16-18 year olds prior to applying for university)

 

An interest-based questionnaire that matches a student’s interests, skills, personal qualities and academic abilities based on past results and forecast results of examinations to be taken with Higher Education courses and institutes in the UK, Europe and Canada.  

Centigrade provides feedback for the student in the form of a workbook containing:

·       Worksheets on the top 6–8 course areas

·       Listings of matched courses and institutions

·       University checklists

·       Course analysis forms

·       Useful references and websites

Preview

  (for 14-16 years prior to choosing AS/AL or equivalent subjects)

 

A careers guidance programme for students about to take A level, IB or equivalent examinations.  The programme helps students look deeper into their career interest, their own personal qualities and abilities to help them plan their further studies.

Preview analyses individual student responses and produces an Interest Profile based on over 40 broad career areas. In addition, it provides:

·       useful information for each student on the top key career areas

·       a personalised AS/A level or IB subject selection chart

·       a facility for structured careers research

·       access to MyCareersRoom

·       online version of ‘The Careers Directory’ for each student

The Preview test can be taken in conjunction with the Cambridge Profile aptitude tests to produce an integrated workbook showing the student’s aptitude scores for different career areas.

Probe

 (for 12-15 year old junior secondary school children)

A web-based programme to introduce younger students to the world of careers.  Probe is a fully illustrated online programme designed to be used by careers advisers in the classroom with year 8 and 9 students. It is a very useful introduction to careers work and provides students with their own worksheets to encourage research.

Probe helps students to:

·       think about their own interests and consider their selection of GCSEs or equivalent subjects

·       relate these interests to possible careers

·       understand the importance of selecting suitable GCSE or equivalent subjects

·       learn how to investigate different careers and record their findings

Cambridge Profile

 (for 14-18 years old mid to higher secondary school children)

 

A battery of 8 timed aptitude tests comprising Verbal*, Numeric, Abstract, 2 and 3D Spatial Reasoning, Spelling, Arithmetic Calculation and Working Quickly Accurately. 

(*available in Chinese and 14 other languages).

Cambridge Profile provides

·       an added means of assessment when matching a student with a career area or a more specific job

·       opportunities for students to experience such tests in advance of being presented with them by employers or others in future

·       objective assessment of academic potential (useful for students joining a school in the sixth form or at other stages)

·       an assessment of a student’s aptitude when working in a language of their choice

·       Percentile scores (norm referenced): comparing them with other students of their age and similar academic background

Interviewing

·       A 20-minute handover interviewing service is available as an optional part of either the Preview or Centigrade programmes to help the student understand and make full use of the feedback and start their own research.
